Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between manny makunouchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). makunouchi comes into the arena with sandstorm blaring out of the sound system. Jason Silva has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with manny makunouchi's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
makunouchi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Silva closes the distance and clinches up with makunouchi, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes makunouchi against the cage but makunouchi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Silva tries to clinch but makunouchi is having none of it.
Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Silva looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Nice sprawl there from makunouchi as Silva shoots in.
manny makunouchi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Silva.
makunouchi slaps away a takedown attempt from Silva, before circling back to the center of the mat.
manny makunouchi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
makunouchi ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
makunouchi misses with a jab, cross combination.

makunouchi takes the fight into the clinch.
Silva has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. makunouchi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

makunouchi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and makunouchi counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by makunouchi.

Silva takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A left lands for makunouchi.
Silva takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Silva takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Silva has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Silva shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. makunouchi defends it nicely.

Silva takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
makunouchi slaps away a takedown attempt from Silva, before circling back to the center of the mat.
manny makunouchi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
makunouchi lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva takes a shot right to the bread basket.

makunouchi closes the distance and clinches.
makunouchi is trying to break the clinch but Silva has him pressed against the cage.

makunouchi breaks the clinch.
Silva tries to move into range but makunouchi moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
makunouchi sizes up Silva with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
makunouchi leaves Silva with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
makunouchi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Silva circles away quickly and effectively.
Silva dodges the punch combination from makunouchi.
makunouchi lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Silva at a distance.
makunouchi misses with a low kick.

makunouchi forces Silva back against the cage and clinches.

makunouchi breaks from the clinch.
makunouchi throws a nice looking combination but Silva bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
makunouchi tests Silva's chin there with a solid looking shot.
makunouchi wants to slow Silva down by chopping away at his legs.
makunouchi lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Silva dodges the punch combination from makunouchi.
makunouchi is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Silva tries to clinch but makunouchi is having none of it.
Silva is trying desperately to land a takedown but makunouchi is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Silva.
Silva closes this distance looking for a takedown but makunouchi circles away.
Silva shoots in but no luck this time.
makunouchi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

makunouchi takes the fight into the clinch.

makunouchi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A nice combination there by makunouchi.
makunouchi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A slapping leg kick lands for makunouchi.
Left hook, right uppercut from makunouchi.
makunouchi lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
makunouchi lands a nice shot that snaps Silva's head back.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

makunouchi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva moves forwards but makunouchi connects with a nice, crisp jab.
makunouchi scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

BOOM! makunouchi lands a beautiful left hook that drops Silva. Silva tries to recover but makunouchi is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Silva lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
