Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lalli Koylio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koylio is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Moonsorrow - Köyliönjärven Jäällä (Pakanavedet II). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Chan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lalli Koylio!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Chan does no damage.
Chan walks into a left hand.
A big left from Koylio misses.
Koylio slips a jab and a cross from Chan.
Chan misses with an uppercut. Koylio saw that one coming.

Koylio shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Koylio was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Koylio swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Chan is now in Koylio's guard. A big mistake from Koylio there, giving up the dominant position!
Chan slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Koylio is pulling down on Chan's head. It's preventing any offense from Chan, at least for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koylio is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Chan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Koylio is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chan defends well.

Koylio is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chan is aware though and is defending well.

Koylio throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Chan escapes and throws Koylio's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Koylio gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
A nice elbow there by Chan.
Koylio is looking to improve his position but Chan isn't that keen on the idea.
Chan looking to finish with strikes here!

Chan controlling from mount.
Chan cracks Koylio with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Chan controlling the pace for now.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Koylio is trying desperately to improve position.
Chan trying to control but Koylio is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chan content just to control the position here.
Koylio is squirming around, avoiding Chan's attempts to control the action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Johnny Chan just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Chan moves forwards but Koylio connects with a nice, crisp jab.


It looks like Johnny Chan has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Koylio is looking to clinch.
Chan stuffs the takedown.
Chan fails with a takedown attempt.
Koylio displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Chan throws out the jab.
Lalli Koylio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Chan counters with a nice uppercut.
Chan misses with a two punch combination.
Chan lands with a right hand.


It looks like Lalli Koylio has been cut.
Chan displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Koylio throws out the jab.
Koylio tries for a takedown but Chan circles away easily
and Chan counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Johnny Chan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lalli Koylio.
Chan avoids the body shot from Koylio.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Johnny Chan will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Chan counters with a left to the body.
Decent striking displayed by Chan there.
Koylio slips under a jab from Chan.
Koylio throws a head kick that misses
and Koylio takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Chan throws a jab when Koylio was well out of range.
Koylio fails with the takedown
and Chan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Koylio takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A shot to de liver by Chan. Beautiful body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chan drops Koylio with a beautiful combination! Koylio stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Chan is looking for the KO!


Koylio is rocked!
Koylio walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Chan swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Johnny Chan!
