Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nick shannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Howard Beale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). shannon's entrance music is yesterdays headlines. A fine choice. Beale has chosen Mad As Hell as his entrance music. Nick shannon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick shannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Howard Beale!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and Alyssa Summers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beale doesn't manage to clinch there - shannon circles away.
shannon misses the shot to the body.

Beale fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with shannon, pushing him back against the cage.
Beale is trying to break the clinch but shannon has him pressed against the cage.
shannon fails to pull guard.
shannon tries to pull guard but Beale won't allow it.
A right hand to the body from shannon.
Beale has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Beale is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

shannon is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Beale can't fight it off and eventually shannon manages to take the fight to the floor. Beale looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
shannon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Beale swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Beale doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Beale wants to stand and escape but shannon is having none of it.
shannon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as shannon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

shannon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Beale is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of shannon, into his guard.
Beale wants to control from the top but shannon keeps moving.

Beale working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Beale stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Beale is looking to clinch but shannon is avoiding it.
shannon blocks a head kick by Beale.
Howard Beale seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Beale shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches shannon napping and manages to drive through into side control!
shannon tries to strike but it doesn't land.
shannon manages to get back to half guard.
shannon wants to improve his position but Beale is controlling well.
shannon moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

shannon had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Beale is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. shannon Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Beale's back instead.
shannon punches the canvas rather than the man.
Beale wants to control his opponent's hands but shannon gets his hands free.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
shannon is trying to stick to Beale's back but Beale is turning into shannon. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in shannon's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Beale.
Beale postures up in shannon's guard and throws a big left but shannon blocks it.

Beale gets to his feet. shannon looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Beale tries to clinch but shannon is having none of it.

shannon lands with a slapping head kick.

It looks like Howard Beale has been cut.
Beale shoots for a takedown but shannon saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Beale tries to close the distance and clinch but shannon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

shannon drives through and clinches with Beale against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Beale wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

shannon breaks from the clinch.
shannon dives in and grabs Beale's left leg, looking for a takedown. Beale pushes down on shannon's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick shannon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Beale clobbers shannon with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
shannon scores with a leg kick.
Beale tries to clinch but fails miserably

and shannon counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
shannon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
shannon is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Beale trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
shannon stands and throws Beale's legs to the side, diving into side control.
shannon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beale keeps working.
shannon remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Beale is looking to regain half guard here but shannon keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beale is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on shannon's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
shannon working over Beale with some ground and pound. Beale looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. shannon lands a nice short elbow.

shannon is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Beale keeping moving, preventing shannon from controlling successfully.

Beale is looking for a triangle but shannon pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
shannon scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Beale lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for shannon!

Beale keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of shannon's head.

It looks like he's going for a triangle but Beale is defending well. shannon quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Beale has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! shannon celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
