The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Payette looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Lasberg wants to get back to full guard.

Payette looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lasberg with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lasberg misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Payette looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lasberg is fending him off so far but Payette persists. Nope, Lasberg circles away and we're back to standing.

Lasberg throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Payette stumbling backwards into the cage! Payette bounces back off the cage towards Lasberg, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Lasberg lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Lasberg celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
