Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Enrico Carandang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Baas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Enrico Carandang had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Enrico Carandang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Corey Baas!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carandang fails in his attempt to clinch.
Carandang displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Baas.
Carandang shoots and misses

and Baas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Carandang won't be happy with that.
Carandang struggling a bit here.
Carandang tries to bench press Baas off him but Baas keeps the position.
A lull in the action here.
Carandang is looking to regain half guard here but Baas keeps moving and retains side control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Baas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carandang tries to avoid it but Baas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carandang to the ground. Carandang escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Baas closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Baas lands in his opponent's guard.
Baas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carandang. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Baas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carandang has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Baas has managed to get both his arms back between Carandang's legs - danger averted.

Baas should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Corey Baas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Baas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Carandang is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Carandang looking for a sweep. Not yet Carandang, not yet.
Carandang keeping moving, preventing Baas from controlling successfully.
Baas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Carandang is looking to stand up but Baas isn't so interested in that idea.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Carandang is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Baas defends well.
Baas tries to free his leg and advance position but Carandang is retaining full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Baas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carandang as he jumps to the side.

Corey Baas is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Carandang is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Baas pulls his head out easily.
