Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Halme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rich Weeds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rich Weeds is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weeds swinging wilding here.

Weeds closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Halme controls the position for a moment.

Weeds tries to close the distance and clinch but Halme swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Halme misses with a takedown attempt - Weeds sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Weeds escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Halme gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

BOOM! Halme connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Halme cracks Weeds with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Halme looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Weeds is in a horrible position here. Halme smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Halme takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Halme has hold of Weeds's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Weeds manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Weeds tries to clinch but Halme moves away
and Halme counters with a body kick that stops Weeds in his tracks momentarily.
Halme throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

It looks like Rich Weeds has been cut.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Weeds is trying to maintain a safe position but Halme gets an underhook and turns Weeds into the cage.

Halme jumps guard and drags Weeds to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Weeds wants to stand and escape but instead Halme has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
