PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jhogo Ko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grant Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ko's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Indestructible. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jhogo Ko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Grant Jackson!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson tries to clinch up.
Jackson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Jackson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Grant Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jackson tries to bum rush Ko with a series of wild strikes but Ko uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ko moves away.
A clash of legs there as Ko blocks the low kick.
Jackson tries to clinch but Ko moves out of range.
Jackson with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Jackson looks to land a combination but Ko avoids it well.
Ko takes a jab right on the kisser.
Jackson swings for the body but Ko moves out of range.
Jackson tries to clinch there but Ko circles away.
Jackson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ko fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson misses with a kick to the body.
Ko throws a jab but it's blocked by Jackson.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jackson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jackson lands a with a good body shot.
Ko misses with a hook. Jackson ducked under it nicely.
Ko doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Jackson misses with a two punch combination.
Jackson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ko moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jackson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Jackson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ko to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Ko trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jackson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ko wants to pass the guard but Jackson is keeping the position.
Ko prevents Jackson from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ko passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Ko tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ko has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ko tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Ko is breathing heavily.
Jackson pushes Ko away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ko gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Ko thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Jackson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ko has just dragged him back down to the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ko is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Jackson is trying to escape and Ko transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Jackson is forced to tap! Nice work there by Ko! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jhogo Ko!
