coton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hughes sprawls well initially but coton persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

coton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and coton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hughes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around coton's waist but coton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hughes off to one side.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hughes shoots in looking for a takedown. coton tries to sprawl out of it but Hughes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. coton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hughes is nestled in close to coton, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hughes wants to clinch up but coton keeps it at a distance.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nathan Hughes will probably get the nod.

Hughes wants to pass the guard but coton is keeping the position.

coton had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hughes is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. coton Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hughes's back instead.

coton has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hughes has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

coton is looking for a choke. Hughes gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Hughes manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

coton throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hughes escapes and throws coton's legs to the side, diving into side control!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nathan Hughes.
Well Hughes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
