PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kellen Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shooter McGavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Turn My Swag On. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGavin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Smith looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McGavin is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, McGavin circles away and we're back to standing.
McGavin connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Smith momentarily.

It looks like Kellen Smith has been cut.

Smith moves into the clinch successfully.

McGavin wants to get back to striking at distance but Smith won't allow it.

Smith lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Smith is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. McGavin is defending well for now.

Smith uses his free foot to push down on McGavin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McGavin.
McGavin wants to control but Smith is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McGavin regains half guard.
McGavin is trying to control but can't.
Smith trying to mount his opponent but McGavin defends it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McGavin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McGavin thows a body shot but no joy.
Jab, jab by McGavin - just one landing.
Smith keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
McGavin lands with a nice body punch.

Smith is breathing heavily.
No joy there for McGavin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Smith takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Shooter McGavin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A punch lands to the side of Smith 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Kellen Smith's cut is getting worse.

McGavin lands a jab-cross combination.
McGavin cracks Smith with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Smith tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but McGavin pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Smith is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
