Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Espozito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randall Vaughan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jonathan Espozito!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Randall Vaughan!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Espozito feints and as Vaughan raises his hands in defense, Espozito changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vaughan looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Espozito trying to control the position from guard on top but Vaughan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Vaughan keeping moving, preventing Espozito from controlling successfully.

Vaughan is working an open guard so Espozito takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Vaughan stuffs the takedown.
Espozito shoots in for a double leg but Vaughan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Espozito fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonathan Espozito. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Espozito will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Espozito shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vaughan defends it nicely.

Espozito has closed the distance and engaged Vaughan in a clinch.

Vaughan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Espozito tries to clinch up but Vaughan circles away and keeps his distance.
Vaughan thows a body kick. Espozito tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Jonathan Espozito seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Espozito misses the shot to the body.
Vaughan tries to bum rush Espozito with a series of wild strikes but Espozito uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Vaughan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Espozito shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vaughan but Vaughan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Espozito tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vaughan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Espozito somewhat.

Vaughan gets a clinch.
Vaughan tries to land knees in the clinch but Espozito avoids the damage to the body.

Espozito pulls Vaughan into guard.
Vaughan trying to control the position from guard on top but Espozito is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Vaughan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Espozito controls Vaughan momentarily but Vaughan frees himself.
Vaughan trying to control but Espozito is working from the bottom.

Espozito has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vaughan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Espozito had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Vaughan is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Espozito Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Vaughan's back instead.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Vaughan is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Espozito gets his way!

Espozito is looking for the choke from the back position but Vaughan is controlling his hands well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Vaughan's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Espozito working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Vaughan is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Espozito has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Vaughan taps out!
