Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lath Hoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peekay Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoy comes to the cage accompanied by Go Ninja-Vanilla Ice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lath Hoy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peekay Williams!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams misses with a low kick.
Williams tries to work over Hoy's front leg with a kick but Hoy checks it.
Williams looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Williams lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Williams swinging wilding here.
Hoy dives in and grabs Williams's left leg, looking for a takedown. Williams pushes down on Hoy's head and hops out.
Williams sizes up Hoy with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Hoy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Williams is trying to maintain the position but Hoy is very close to passing his half guard.
Williams tries to kick Hoy off but Hoy keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Hoy is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Williams is looking to escape.
Williams is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hoy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Williams keeps working.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoy stops Williams from getting back to his feet.

Hoy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Williams is trying to get back to full guard.
Hoy wants to free his trapped foot but Williams is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hoy moves nicely into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Williams can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hoy has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Hoy trying to control but Williams is having none of it.
Williams trying desperately to get to his feet.

Williams defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hoy.
Hoy tries to control but Williams wriggling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hoy is really struggling to control Williams but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Hoy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hoy wants to control the pace but Williams is squirming around nicely.
Hoy blocks Williams's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Williams tries to hold on but Hoy pushes him away.
Hoy wants to take his opponent's back but Williams doesn't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hoy forces the positional change into back control.
Williams is trying to get back to his feet but Hoy has full control of the position and if anything, Williams has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Hoy is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Williams has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Williams is keeping busy.
Williams has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Hoy is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lath Hoy dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Williams throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Some wild striking there from Williams.
Hoy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Williams paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hoy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hoy showed some decent athleticism there.

Hoy in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Williams tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Hoy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Lath Hoy!
