Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake The GridIron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cung Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cung Li looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The GridIron tries to clinch but Li is having none of it.

The GridIron moves into the clinch successfully.
Li throws an elbow but it's blocked.
The GridIron tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The GridIron wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Li has him pressed against the cage.

Li ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Li no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The GridIron got a little sloppy there for a moment and Li has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, The GridIron has managed to get both his arms back between Li's legs - danger averted.

The GridIron drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Li manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now The GridIron has Li in his guard.

The GridIron throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

The GridIron is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Li is aware though and is defending well.
Li must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The GridIron postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Li to stand up.
Good leg kick by The GridIron there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

The GridIron shoots in and drives through. Li sprawls well.
The GridIron shoots in for a takedown but Li shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The GridIron turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and The GridIron manages to end up in side control.

The GridIron seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Li for as long as he can get away with.
Li really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The GridIron. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The GridIron shoots for a double leg takedown but Li sprawls well. He's pushed The GridIron's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Li tries a knee to the head but The GridIron blocks it.

The GridIron breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Li throws a right hand that The GridIron ducks under and follows up with a left that The GridIron also avoids with ease.
Li closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The GridIron avoids a punch combination nicely.

The GridIron jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Li walks away with a smile on his face. The GridIron gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The GridIron decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Li, up you get!
Li walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. The GridIron checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

The GridIron bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
