PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Marty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephen Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marty comes into the arena with Therion - Invocation of Naamah blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eddie Marty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stephen Davis!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marty closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Davis misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Davis pushes Marty off looking to stand but Marty dives back in and keeps control.
Davis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Davis desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Marty wants to take a breather but Davis is having none of it.
Davis tries to roll over but Marty keeps him under control.

Davis pushes Marty off and gets back to his feet.
Marty has a takedown stuffed.
Marty shoots in and drives through. Davis sprawls well.
Davis throws a right and a left that both miss.
Davis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Marty has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Marty wants to clinch up but Davis keeps it at a distance.

Davis pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Davis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Marty circles away.

Davis seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Marty wants to control but Davis is keeping busy.

Davis tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Marty counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Davis won't let Marty get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Marty counters with a three punch combo that has Davis backing up. Davis nods at Marty to acknowledge the strikes.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Davis lands a nice short elbow.
Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marty keeps working.
Marty seems to have got his legs back now.
Marty knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davis on the ground.
Davis is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis is pressing down on Marty's thigh, looking to free his foot. Marty is holding on for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
