Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dion Mayers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Giorgio Jemez! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive. Jemez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A jab from Mayers misses. Mayers scores with a jab. Jemez acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mayers lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jemez. Mayers does a little dance to reset his feet. Mayers throws a right hand that misses
and Jemez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Mayers takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mayers throws a lazy uppercut
and Jemez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Mayers swings for the body but Jemez moves out of range.
Jemez getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A big right from Mayers misses.
And that's the end of the fight! Giorgio Jemez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Jemez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1 round of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision. Judge Yves DeLean scores the fight 9:10 Judge William Peck scores the fight 9:10 Judge Alec Ball scores the fight 9:10
In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Giorgio Jemez!
