Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Terry Slaughter (ranked 225 p4p, 444 weight class) and Trent Richards (ranked 24 p4p, 52 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Terry Slaughter! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Trent Richards! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richards connects with a body shot. A low kick from Richards is predictable there and Slaughter counters with a lovely shot to the body. Richards misses with a hook
and Slaughter counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Slaughter seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Richards throws a shot to the body.
Slaughter dodges the punch combination from Richards.
Richards throws a right and a left that both miss. Slaughter throwing a counter right hand but Richards manages to avoid it. Richards misses with a right hand and Slaughter counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Slaughter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Richards fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Slaughter manages to avoid it. Richards throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Slaughter counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Richards looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Slaughter attempts a counter takedown but Richards avoids it well and moves away. Trent Richards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Richards misses with a few strikes there.

Slaughter takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Richards thumps Slaughter with a low kick. Richards misses with a lunging right hand
and Slaughter counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Richards thinking. Richards takes a swing at Slaughter's ribcage but misses. Slaughter takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Richards blocks a jab. Slaughter takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Slaughter uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Richards. A shot to the body from Richards misses and Slaughter counters with a straight right hand.
 Richards is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Richards throws a left and a right that both miss
and Slaughter counters with a big slam followed by a series of strikes - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Terry Slaughter! Terry Slaughter retains his featherweight title! Our winner, Terry Slaughter, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
