PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Teboho Matekane (ranked 756 p4p, 583 weight class) and Archie Evans (ranked 75 p4p, 55 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Archie Evans!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Evans gets caught flat footed, as Matekane shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Evans told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Matekane is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Evans's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Teboho Matekane is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Matekane tries to roll over but Evans keeps him under control.
Archie Evans has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Matekane slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Matekane has his feet on Evans's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Matekane shoots for a takedown but Evans saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Matekane shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Evans sprawls well. Evans wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Matekane gets slowly back to his feet.
