Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gord Ryan (ranked 16 p4p, 91 weight class) and Dusty Rhodes (ranked 2 p4p, 12 weight class). Ryan's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Rusty Cage. Rhodes has chosen Bury My Bones as his entrance music. Gord Ryan is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gord Ryan!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Dusty Rhodes!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhodes shoots in for a takedown but Ryan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ryan appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Ryan moves out of range of the strikes.
A big left from Ryan misses.
Rhodes takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
It looks like Dusty Rhodes has been cut.
Rhodes scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Ryan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Ryan there as he acknowledges the shot.
Rhodes shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ryan defends it nicely.
A counter left hand to the body from Ryan misses its target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rhodes missing with a left hand there. Ryan was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

and Ryan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Ryan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ryan displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rhodes throws out the jab.

and Ryan counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Rhodes dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dusty Rhodes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rhodes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ryan defends well and Rhodes ends up having to push Ryan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Gord Ryan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dusty Rhodes.
Rhodes connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ryan. Ryan circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Rhodes tries for a takedown but Ryan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ryan uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rhodes.
As Rhodes looks to move away, Ryan throws a big counter combo but Rhodes just gets out of the way.
Ryan takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Rhodes loads up on a big right hand but Ryan slips the punch.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rhodes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ryan throws a big counter combination but Rhodes scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Rhodes tries to close the distance and clinch but Ryan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Ryan counters with a nice uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rhodes throws a looping overhand right but Ryan ducks down to avoid it.
Ryan is looking for a counter combo.
Ryan throws a jab when Rhodes was well out of range.
Rhodes is looking to clinch.
Rhodes throws a sloppy body shot
and Ryan counters with a straight right hand.
That has opened up Dusty Rhodes's cut even more.
Rhodes throws a body punch but Ryan moves out of range.
Rhodes misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ryan.
Ryan was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Rhodes throws a jab but it's blocked by Ryan.
Rhodes throws a shot to the body.
Gord Ryan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rhodes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ryan with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rhodes to score with a decent uppercut.
It looks like Gord Ryan has been cut.
Rhodes throws a jab when Ryan was well out of range.
Ryan drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Rhodes has managed to clinch.
Rhodes blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rhodes drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ryan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Rhodes scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
and Rhodes counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Ryan! He's just covering up as Rhodes starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dusty Rhodes!
Dusty Rhodes is the new middleweight champion!
After winning the bout, Dusty Rhodes thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
