Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between King Kong Jones (ranked 1018 p4p, 2344 weight class) and Rick Drew (ranked 104 p4p, 219 weight class). King Kong Jones could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Rick Drew's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, King Kong Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rick Drew!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Drew moves away.
Jones tries to clinch up.
Drew looks to land a left hand but Jones moved out of range nicely.
Jones staying out of range there.
Jones takes a jab right on the kisser.
Jones throws a body punch but Drew moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Drew. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rick Drew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Drew throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Drew is controlling Jones's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Jones looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Jones is keen to just control but Drew is a slippery customer.

Jones is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Drew is just riding it out for now. Jones eventually gives up the hold.

Jones is working for a submission of some sort.

Jones is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Jones is thwarting Drew's attempts to control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Drew wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.
Jones looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Jones trying to control from half guard but Drew is working away.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Jones is pressing down on Drew's thigh, looking to free his foot. Drew is holding on for now.

Drew wants to get back to full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Jones looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Jones blocks a head kick by Drew.

Drew avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Drew pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
A slow jab from Drew misses its intended target.
Jones takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Drew tries to work over Jones's front leg with a kick but Jones checks it.
A head kick misses from Drew.
Drew tries a head kick but it misses.
Drew fails to land with a series of punches.
Drew circles away from the clinch attempt
and Drew counters with a solid body kick.

Jones steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Drew.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Drew misses with a few strikes there.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Drew but Drew pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Drew sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
As Jones backs off Drew throws a huge counter combo but Jones manages to avoid it all.
Drew throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jones blocks a head kick by Drew.

Jones looks to throw the jab but Drew is out of range.

Drew gets tackled into the cage by Jones. Jones maintains the clinch.
Drew is trying to break the clinch but Jones has him pressed against the cage.
Jones throws an elbow that misses.
Jones goes for a takedown in the clinch but Drew prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for King Kong Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Drew escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jones clinches.
Jones looking to stall.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Drew dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Drew has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jones avoids the head kick by Drew.
Drew throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Drew's guard.

Drew pulls Jones in close to his closed guard and prevents Jones from doing any damage or advancing position.

Jones postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Drew is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jones, into his guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Drew accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Drew throws a big right hand that misses.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Drew throwing strikes but missing.
Jones looking to control.

Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Drew doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Drew manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Drew postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Drew throws an elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Drew's guard. Nice move by Jones!

Jones is really struggling to control Drew but he's trying to hold on to the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jones is looking to clinch but Drew is avoiding it.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jones gets the takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that King Kong Jones will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Drew scores with a hook.
Jones avoids the head kick by Drew.

Drew throws the left hand but Jones avoids the punch easily.

Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Jones fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Drew to the ground. Jones is now in Drew's guard.
Jones wants to control from the top but Drew keeps moving.

Jones tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Drew defends well and Jones ends up having to push Drew into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jones goes for a takedown attempt but Drew pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Drew loads up on a big right hand but Jones slips the punch.
Jones appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Drew throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Drew paws at him with a jab and circles away.
No joy there for Drew, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Drew takes one on the button.

Drew misses with a straight right.
Drew misses with an uppercut. Jones saw that one coming.
Jones seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Drew tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Drew manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for King Kong Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Drew circles away.
Jones moves away from the strike by Drew.
Drew stuffs the takedown.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Drew shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to King Kong Jones.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
