Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Smielchansky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Evan Kirk!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Kavanagh and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smielchansky drives through with a takedown into Kirk's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Kirk is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Smielchansky presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Smielchansky can't get the takedown.
Smielchansky is working for takedown but Kirk is calmly controlling the position for now.
Smielchansky pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smielchansky throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Kirk unleashes a big counter combination but Smielchansky bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Kirk circles away from the clinch attempt
and Kirk counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Smielchansky darts in trying to clinch
and Kirk counters with a three punch combo that has Smielchansky backing up. Smielchansky nods at Kirk to acknowledge the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Smielchansky shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kirk counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Smielchansky. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smielchansky is breathing heavily.
Smielchansky closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kirk connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Smielchansky has his takedown stuffed
and Kirk counters with a left and a right... And another left! Smielchansky is down! He's done! The ref dives in to save him and that's the end of the fight!
