Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tyson King (ranked 1034 p4p, 3498 weight class) and Kotetsu Yama (ranked 105 p4p, 293 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyson King! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kotetsu Yama! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yama's jab looks to have found its range, popping King under the eye. A shot to the liver by King. Beautiful body shot. Yama keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Yama throws a body punch but King moves out of range.
Yama has King up against the cage in a clinch.
King has been working on his balance at Ragnarok\'s Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Yama. King is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. King lands with a short shot to the head. King lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Yama slowing the pace effectively. Yama has King pressed against the cage.
The crowd are getting on Yama's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

My spies in Guerrilla Fight Club 🇺🇸 inform me that Yama has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!  That's one minute gone in the round. Yama cracks King with a solid left hand. Yama has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. King is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Yama drops back, looking for a kneebar! King looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. King looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from King!
King tries to advance to mount but Yama denies him. King working the ground and pound from side control. Yama is looking to regain half guard here but King keeps moving and retains side control. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Yama is trying to work for a sweep but King has mounted him! Yama bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! King is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. King is trying to keep Yama in close.

Yama has gone for a leg lock! King slips out almost immediately though and dives into Yama's guard.
 The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. King working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Yama's head. King has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. King is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Yama can't keep his opponent in guard - King advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. King is keen to just control but Yama is a slippery customer. Yama moves into full guard.
King keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Yama's head. King preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yama looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. King seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. King lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. King is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. King working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Yama is looking to improve his position.

 That's six minutes gone in the round. King throws a strike but Yama rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Yama showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Yama postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Yama advances position into side control! Yama trying to control the position but King is working away. King can't do much from the bottom here. Yama lands an elbow.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. King is positioning himself to get back to half guard. King gets back to half guard. King is looking to control Yama's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can King avoid being mounted? King is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. King is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Yama's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Yama's back! Yama tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! The referee warns Yama that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

King pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Yama wants to hold on but King pushes him away.
 That's eight minutes gone in the round. King throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Yama because King loaded up on that one. King is landing with some decent strikes but Yama is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
 Yama is rocked! King breaks from Yama's wrist control and lands an elbow. Yama is still in real trouble! Can King finish him? This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! King postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Yama in real trouble here! The ref calls for Yama to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyson King!
