PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Max Wolfe (ranked 265 p4p, 957 weight class) and Jaro Key (ranked 29 p4p, 101 weight class). Key has chosen HonestKey- The Unseen as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Max Wolfe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaro Key!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wolfe looks to throw the jab but Key is out of range.
Wolfe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Key manages to avoid it.
Key feints the counter takedown.
Wolfe throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Wolfe misses the target.
Key throws a right hand that Wolfe ducks under and follows up with a left that Wolfe also avoids with ease.

Wolfe fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Key to the ground. Wolfe is now in Key's guard.
Wolfe wants to control from the top but Key keeps moving.
Key looking for a sweep. Not yet Key, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Key has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Key working for submissions but it's allowed Wolfe to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wolfe winds up and cracks Key with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Key has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wolfe is working away from the top position though.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Key throws a shot from downtown. Wolfe moves away and avoids it.

Wolfe controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Key is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wolfe works over Key with some ground and pound from guard.
Key looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Wolfe working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Key's head.
Wolfe is fighting to break Key's control of his arms but Key is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wolfe's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wolfe lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Key isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Wolfe stacks Key on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Wolfe!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wolfe connects with a nice short shot to Key's temple.
Wolfe lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Wolfe is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Key wants to control but Wolfe is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Max Wolfe dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

A jab lands there for Wolfe.

Wolfe lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Wolfe throws a body punch but Key moves out of range.
Wolfe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Key can do to turn this around?
Key throws an overhand right that lands on Wolfe's shoulder, as Wolfe tries to avoid the shot.
Wolfe walks into a left hand.

Key throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Key works his way into full mount!
Poor strikes thrown by Key there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Key pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Key can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wolfe is looking to escape.
Key sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Key postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Wolfe looks a forlorn figure.
Max Wolfe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Key with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Key avoids the attempt from Wolfe to control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Key postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Wolfe bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Key and the fight is over!
