Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Maman Suraman (ranked 402 p4p, 890 weight class) and Braun Westen (ranked 54 p4p, 113 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maman Suraman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Braun Westen! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Suraman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Westen circles away. Westen slaps away a takedown attempt from Suraman, before circling back to the center of the mat. Suraman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Westen pinned against the cage. Westen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maman Suraman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Westen throws a jab when Suraman was well out of range. Suraman is looking to counter with a body kick.
Westen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Westen lands in his opponent's guard. Westen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Suraman is keeping the position for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Suraman has his foot on Westen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Westen works his way back into a safe position though.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Suraman is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Suraman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Westen manages to get himself to full guard.
Suraman slips nicely into half guard. Westen controlling the position well. Suraman lands strikes from half guard. Suraman trying to pass the guard but Westen defending well. Suraman working the head and body with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Suraman looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Westen is looking to improve his position.
Suraman wants to free his trapped foot but Westen is holding on for dear life with his legs. Suraman thows a huge punch but Westen dodges it nicely.
Suraman is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Suraman wants to control the pace but Westen is squirming around nicely. Westen in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Westen is squirming around, avoiding Suraman's attempts to control the action.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Suraman with the ground and pound from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Westen is looking to get to half guard. Suraman content just to control the position here. Westen is working to get back to half guard.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Suraman trying to control but Westen is having none of it. Suraman fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Suraman misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Suraman wants to control the pace but Westen is squirming around nicely. Westen is desperately trying to improve his position but Suraman has a good base and remains in mount. Suraman throws some wild stikes that Westen manages to avoid easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Suraman looking to control but Westen is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Maman Suraman dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

 It looks like Maman Suraman has been cut. Maman Suraman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Westen throws a head kick that misses. Suraman looks to score with a jab to the body but Westen is just out of range. A slow jab from Suraman misses its intended target. Westen is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Suraman with a body shot. The crowd cheers as Westen lands an impressive looking overhand right. Suraman doesn't seem phased though. Westen throws a poor cross that misses
and Suraman counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Westen! Suraman throwing shots but missing, from side control. Suraman trying to control the action but Westen is working from the bottom. Westen managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Suraman.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Suraman working the body and head with strikes. Suraman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Suraman trying to control the action but Westen is working from the bottom. Westen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Suraman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Suraman controls the position.
Suraman wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Westen, who protects the arm well. Westen prevents Suraman from moving into mount.
Suraman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Suraman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Suraman looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Westen is avoiding damage well.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Suraman is putting a hurting on Westen here, landing some big shots from side control. Westen stops Suraman from passing to mount. Suraman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Westen keeps working.
Suraman tries for a kimura but Westen is defending well. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Westen is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Suraman is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Suraman raining down shots from the mount! Suraman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Westen is looking to escape. Suraman postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Westen looks a forlorn figure.
Westen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Suraman trying to control but he's not successful this time. Westen tries to hold on but Suraman postures up. Suraman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Westen is looking to escape.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Westen is trying to escape the mount.

Suraman tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. A nice side step and Westen releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Westen has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Suraman is landing a low percentage of strikes. Suraman throws a right and a left that both miss. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Suraman slips under a jab. Westen with a hook. Westen is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Westen misses with a head kick.
Suraman attempts a counter takedown but Westen avoids it well and moves away. Westen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Suraman circles away quickly and effectively. letting Suraman counter with a right hand. Suraman shoots for a double leg takedown but Westen sprawls well. He's pushed Suraman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maman Suraman. That's going to take a lot out of him. A head kick misses from Westen. Braun Westen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Westen takes a swing at Suraman's ribcage but misses. Suraman slips under a jab from Westen. Westen fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Westen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Suraman. Westen throws a body punch but Suraman moves out of range.
Suraman scores with a takedown into Westen's guard. Suraman wants to control from the top but Westen keeps moving. Braun Westen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Suraman works a leg free and moves into half guard. Suraman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Westen keeps working. Suraman is pressing down on Westen's thigh, looking to free his foot. Westen is holding on for now. Westen is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest. Westen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Westen won't allow Suraman to pass to mount. Suraman uses his free foot to push down on Westen's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Westen. Maman Suraman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Suraman punishing his opponent with strikes. Westen is in all sorts of trouble here.
Westen is squirming around, avoiding Suraman's attempts to control the action. Suraman has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Westen's face.
Suraman wants to control the pace but Westen is squirming around nicely. Suraman is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Westen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Westen is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Suraman is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Westen has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Westen! Westen wants to pass the guard but Suraman is keeping the position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Braun Westen. I think Suraman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
