Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Francois LaFleur!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jorg Wegner!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wegner rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling LaFleur to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Jorg Wegner has been cut.
Wegner misses with an uppercut
and LaFleur counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Wegner throws a lazy right hand but LaFleur sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
LaFleur was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Wegner rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and LaFleur counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Wegner throws an ugly left hook that misses
and LaFleur counters with a right hand to the body.
Wegner looks winded!
Wegner throws a poor cross that misses
and LaFleur counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
LaFleur is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
LaFleur lands a big right hand that sends Wegner crashing to the mat! LaFleur stays standing though and waves Wegner back to his feet!
Wegner is rocked!
That has opened up Jorg Wegner's cut even more.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
LaFleur changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
LaFleur cracks a nice hook into Wegner's ribs.
LaFleur lands a big uppercut and Wegner crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Wegner looks OK. LaFleur waves Wegner back to his feet!
Wegner is still on wobbly legs! Can LaFleur finish him?
LaFleur lands a body shot.
Wegner seems to have recovered his senses.
LaFleur fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Wegner out cold! Brutal finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Jean Francois LaFleur!
