Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Viktor Van Der Sloot (ranked 1467 p4p, 1752 weight class) and Philip Marcus (ranked 142 p4p, 169 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Viktor Van Der Sloot! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 24 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Philip Marcus! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Steve Montenegro and Alyssa Summers.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Der Sloot tries to bum rush Marcus with a series of wild strikes but Marcus uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Marcus takes a body punch but keeps moving. Van Der Sloot moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. A big left from Marcus misses. Marcus swings for the body but Van Der Sloot moves out of range.
A nice leg kick lands there from Marcus. Marcus keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Marcus doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Marcus takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Marcus misses the body punch
and Van Der Sloot counters with a shoot takedown. Marcus fights it but they end up in guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Marcus is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Van Der Sloot is controlling him. Marcus is controlling Van Der Sloot's posture.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Van Der Sloot is pushing down on Marcus's leg trying to pass to half guard. Marcus is fighting to maintain full guard but Van Der Sloot has managed to sneak the leg through. Marcus is trying to control but can't.
Well, if Van Der Sloot is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Marcus wants to get back to full guard. Van Der Sloot is looking to take a break and control but Marcus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Marcus has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at WOKE MMA. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Van Der Sloot seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Van Der Sloot looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Van Der Sloot content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Van Der Sloot is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Van Der Sloot trying to control but he's not successful this time. Van Der Sloot content just to control the position here.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Der Sloot wants to control the pace but Marcus is squirming around nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Van Der Sloot lands a big elbow. Marcus tries to hold on but Van Der Sloot pushes him away.
Van Der Sloot is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Marcus has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Marcus!

 That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Van Der Sloot has a closed guard, preventing Marcus from standing up. Van Der Sloot pulls Marcus in close to his closed guard and prevents Marcus from doing any damage or advancing position. Van Der Sloot working a defensive guard here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Van Der Sloot controlling the position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

and Van Der Sloot counters with a two punch combo. Van Der Sloot shoots in for a double leg but Marcus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Van Der Sloot shoots in but Marcus avoids the takedown attempt easily. Van Der Sloot tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marcus jabs Van Der Sloot to the body, keeping him at a distance. Marcus misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Van Der Sloot.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Van Der Sloot lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Nice straight punches there by Van Der Sloot. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Van Der Sloot. Van Der Sloot connects with a jab. Philip Marcus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Van Der Sloot closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Marcus throws a body shot but no joy. Van Der Sloot scores with a crisp jab that stopped Marcus in his tracks. Van Der Sloot moves away from the strike by Marcus. Van Der Sloot misses with a right hand and Marcus counters with an inside leg kick. Marcus ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Van Der Sloot moves away. Marcus looks to land a left hand but Van Der Sloot moved out of range nicely.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Marcus getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Van Der Sloot is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Marcus can do to turn this around? Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Van Der Sloot shoots for a takedown but Marcus saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A little jabbing left from Marcus on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Viktor Van Der Sloot. That's going to take a lot out of him. Van Der Sloot moves away from the strike by Marcus. Marcus misses with a straight left. Van Der Sloot misses with a few strikes there.
Marcus bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Van Der Sloot's head. Marcus on the wrong end of a nice jab. Nice uppercut there from Van Der Sloot. Marcus swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Van Der Sloot doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Marcus throws a big shot that misses. Marcus drops his hands momentarily and Van Der Sloot takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Van Der Sloot looks to land a left hand but Marcus moved out of range nicely. Marcus connects with a crisp jab. Van Der Sloot connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Marcus's hands. Van Der Sloot loads up on a big right hand but Marcus slips the punch. Marcus looks to throw a body kick
and Van Der Sloot decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Marcus's guard. Marcus manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Van Der Sloot manages to get himself to full guard.
 Van Der Sloot seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Van Der Sloot working a defensive guard here.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Marcus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Van Der Sloot swivels though and keeps the full guard. Marcus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Marcus is posturing up here but Van Der Sloot has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Marcus tries to roll out but it's too tight and Marcus has to tap! Slick submission there by Van Der Sloot!
