PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacques Turcotte (ranked 1056 p4p, 418 weight class) and Kristof Pardi (ranked 116 p4p, 48 weight class). Pardi has chosen Party Boy Theme as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 41 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacques Turcotte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 21 - 2, fighting out of London, Kristof Pardi!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pardi misses with a looping left.
Turcotte comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Pardi on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Turcotte misses with a straight right.
Turcotte throws a hook but Pardi avoids it easily.
Turcotte jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Pardi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pardi lands in his opponent's guard.
Turcotte keeping moving, preventing Pardi from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Turcotte manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pardi manages to get himself to full guard.

Pardi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Turcotte is one step ahead there.

Turcotte is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Turcotte is looking to pass into half guard but Pardi pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Pardi is in guard.

Pardi won't allow Turcotte to sweep him here.
Turcotte has Pardi pulled in close to control his posture.

Turcotte is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pardi slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Turcotte gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Pardi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Turcotte tries to lock up and control but Pardi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Pardi fails to advance to Turcotte's back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pardi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Turcotte misses with a double jab.
Pardi moves away from the strike by Turcotte.
Turcotte looks to throw the jab but Pardi is out of range.
Turcotte misses the jab.
Pardi with a lazy takedown attempt
letting Turcotte counter with a right hand.
Pardi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Turcotte as he jumps to the side.
As Pardi looks to move away, Turcotte throws a big counter combo but Pardi just gets out of the way.
Turcotte fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Turcotte keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jacques Turcotte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kristof Pardi.
Pardi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Turcotte pinned against the cage. Turcotte gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Pardi ducks right into an uppercut from Turcotte.
Good standup being displayed there by Turcotte as he connects with a hook.
Turcotte connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Pardi takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Pardi moves away from the strike by Turcotte.
Pardi changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Pardi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Turcotte as he jumps to the side.
Turcotte throws a shot to the body.
Turcotte lands a slapping body shot.
Pardi darts in trying to clinch
and Turcotte counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pardi drops his hands momentarily and Turcotte takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Turcotte just misses with a punch to the body.
Turcotte scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Turcotte loads up on a big right hand but Pardi slips the punch.
Pardi has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Pardi there as he acknowledges the shot.
Jacques Turcotte is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pardi misses with a hook. Turcotte ducked under it nicely.
Turcotte throws a big shot that misses.
Turcotte is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pardi can do to turn this around?

Pardi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Pardi is looking to take a break and control but Turcotte is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Pardi controls the position.

Pardi gets to mount! Turcotte was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Pardi is trying to take his opponent's back.
Turcotte sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Pardi prevents Turcotte from improving his position.
Pardi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Turcotte wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Pardi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Turcotte controlling the position for now.
Pardi stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jacques Turcotte dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Turcotte looks to score with a jab to the body but Pardi is just out of range.
Pardi is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Turcotte fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pardi manages to avoid it.
Pardi has his takedown stuffed
and Turcotte counters with a straight right hand.
Pardi tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
It looks like Turcotte has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

Pardi scores with a takedown into Turcotte's guard.
Turcotte looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Pardi puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Pardi wants to free his trapped foot but Turcotte is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Turcotte is looking to improve his position.
Pardi is pressing down on Turcotte's thigh, looking to free his foot. Turcotte is holding on for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Turcotte wants to get back to full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Pardi is taking a breather. Turcotte says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Pardi avoids the body shot from Turcotte.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pardi.
Pardi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Turcotte tries to avoid it but Pardi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Turcotte to the ground. Turcotte escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jacques Turcotte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kristof Pardi.
Turcotte fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Pardi takes one to the side of the head.
Pardi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Turcotte connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Turcotte is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Pardi wants to clinch
enabling Turcotte to counter with a crisp jab.
Pardi tries to clinch but Turcotte is having none of it.
Turcotte fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pardi looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Turcotte scores with a nice head shot.
Pardi fails with an attempt to clinch.
Turcotte missing with a left hand there. Pardi was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Pardi wants to clinch but Turcotte slips to the side
and Turcotte counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Pardi avoids the body shot from Turcotte.
Pardi with the counter takedown but Turcotte avoids it easily.
Turcotte keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Turcotte lands a body shot.
Turcotte throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pardi.
Turcotte takes a swing at Pardi's ribcage but misses.
And Pardi tries to counter it with a takedown but Turcotte pushes his down on his head and steps out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pardi shoots in looking for a takedown. Turcotte tries to sprawl out of it but Pardi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Turcotte manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Turcotte swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Pardi drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pardi wants to pass the guard but Turcotte is keeping the position.
Pardi won't allow Turcotte to sweep him here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pardi controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jacques Turcotte showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Turcotte has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
