Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dante Blas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charles Pettitt!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jorge Garcia and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Decent striking displayed by Pettitt there.
Pettitt misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Blas.
Nice sprawl there from Pettitt as Blas shoots in.
Pettitt looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Pettitt lands with a right hand.
Blas ducks under a wild hook from Pettitt.
Pettitt swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Pettitt looks to score with a jab to the body but Blas is just out of range.
Blas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pettitt sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Blas somewhat.
Dante Blas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blas shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dante Blas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Blas misses with a takedown attempt - Pettitt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pettitt misses with a wild body shot.
Blas fails to land the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blas shoots in for a takedown but Pettitt shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A jab lands there for Pettitt.
Pettitt throws a nice looking combination but Blas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Pettitt paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pettitt connects with a crisp jab.
Pettitt ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blas moves away.
Blas shoots in but no luck this time.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Blas drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Blas forces his way into half guard.
Pettitt pushes Blas off looking to stand but Blas dives back in and keeps control.
Blas is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Pettitt is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dante Blas!
