The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ball throws a right and a left that GurtnerMcGary avoids nicely.
Horrible takedown attempt by Ball or perhaps it was just good defense by GurtnerMcGary, which made it look bad.
GurtnerMcGary shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ball sprawls well. Ball wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. GurtnerMcGary gets slowly back to his feet.
Ball looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Ball misses with a low kick.
GurtnerMcGary throws a big counter combination but Ball scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
GurtnerMcGary throws a body shot but no joy.
GurtnerMcGary goes for a double leg but Ball avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ball continues to drive forward.

GurtnerMcGary seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ball fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. GurtnerMcGary looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ball scores with a one two! GurtnerMcGary had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Ball lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Ball tries to bum rush GurtnerMcGary with a series of wild strikes but GurtnerMcGary uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

GurtnerMcGary takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
GurtnerMcGary shoots for a takedown but Ball saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ball scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
GurtnerMcGary doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
GurtnerMcGary is breathing heavily.
GurtnerMcGary fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Ball fails with an attempt to clinch.

Ball tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but GurtnerMcGary paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ball moves into the clinch successfully.
GurtnerMcGary is trying to pull guard but Ball turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Ball tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. GurtnerMcGary smiles and moves away.
GurtnerMcGary blocks a head kick by Ball.
Ball shoots for a double leg takedown but GurtnerMcGary sprawls well. He's pushed Ball's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
GurtnerMcGary tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ball swivels and escapes.
Ball punishes GurtnerMcGary's body with a nice straight punch.
Ball connects with a single shot there.
Ball tries to clinch up.
GurtnerMcGary takes one to the chin there.
GurtnerMcGary is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Ball moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mason Ball!
