PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Nolan (ranked 2553 p4p, 3438 weight class) and Devyn Howell (ranked 118 p4p, 143 weight class). Nolan kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Holiday / Boulevard of Broken Dreams ยท Green Day. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Howell dives in and grabs Nolan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nolan pushes down on Howell's head and hops out. Nolan throws a head kick that misses. Nolan throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Howell bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Howell has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Nolan is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Howell yanks on the arm and Nolan is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Howell.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Devyn Howell!
