Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mati Ciechu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cillian O Connor!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ciechu looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Ciechu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ciechu seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down O Connor for as long as he can get away with.
Ciechu has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

O Connor has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ciechu is working away from the top position though.

O Connor is desperately trying to improve his position but Ciechu has a good base and remains in mount.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
O Connor takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Ciechu is landing with some decent strikes but O Connor is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

O Connor is in a horrible position here. Ciechu smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
O Connor shoots for a takedown but Ciechu saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ciechu tries to counter by moving into the clinch but O Connor manages to circle out of the way.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ciechu has O Connor pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. O Connor manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Ciechu wants the takedown. O Connor is fighting it off but Ciechu persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in O Connor's guard against the cage.
Ciechu is standing up over O Connor. O Connor looks to escape but Ciechu dives into side control.
You can see the frustration on O Connor's face as Ciechu controls the position.

O Connor takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Ciechu stands up and beckons O Connor to his feet.
O Connor rushes Ciechu and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ciechu pulls guard effortlessly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ciechu wants to sweep but no luck.

Ciechu is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

O Connor is trying to stand back up but Ciechu is controlling him
Ciechu is figuring out what he wants to do next.

More hug and hope from Ciechu.
O Connor is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ciechu pulls his head out easily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ciechu lands a nice short elbow.
Ciechu is taking a breather. O Connor says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
O Connor wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ciechu takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Ciechu winds up and cracks O Connor with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Ciechu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Ciechu changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. O Connor looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ciechu shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in O Connor's guard.

Ciechu is going oldschool here, as he tries to force O Connor to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so O Connor shrugs it off.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ciechu, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
