PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leandro Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodolfo Astofildo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Torres comes into the arena with Face the pain blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Astofildo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Torres is trying to defend but Astofildo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Astofildo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Torres. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Torres looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Astofildo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Torres knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Astofildo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Torres, pushing him back against the cage.

Astofildo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Torres gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Astofildo to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Torres has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Astofildo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Astofildo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Torres has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Astofildo has managed to get both his arms back between Torres's legs - danger averted.

Torres misses with a takedown

and Astofildo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Torres has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Astofildo. Oh but Torres has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Astofildo goes limp - he's gone! Torres jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
