Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Akahoshi Hisashi (ranked 591 p4p, 1151 weight class) and Matsuda Takeshi (ranked 70 p4p, 137 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hisashi might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Feng Shui. Akahoshi Hisashi has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 22 - 14 - 1, fighting out of London, Akahoshi Hisashi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matsuda Takeshi! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hisashi misses the shot to the body. Hisashi misses with a straight left. Hisashi misses with an uppercut. Takeshi saw that one coming. Hisashi scores with a shot to the body.
Hisashi just misses with a punch to the body.
Takeshi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hisashi cracks Takeshi with a good jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hisashi moves into range and connects with a jab. The fighters circling - Hisashi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hisashi clinches with his opponent.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Hisashi stops a takedown attempt from Takeshi.
Takeshi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hisashi pulls his leg out and moves away.
Akahoshi Hisashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matsuda Takeshi. Takeshi takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Nice straight punches there by Hisashi. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hisashi. Hisashi darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Takeshi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hisashi but Hisashi pushes him off and we're back to square one. Hisashi throws a hook but Takeshi blocks it. Hisashi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Takeshi feints the counter takedown. Takeshi looks for a takedown but Hisashi sprawls well.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Takeshi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hisashi. Hisashi throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Takeshi sees it coming and avoids it easily. Hisashi stalks Takeshi and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Takeshi's face. Takeshi staggers backwards, shaken.
 It looks like Matsuda Takeshi has been cut. Takeshi shoots in looking for a takedown but Hisashi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Takeshi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. A nice combination there by Hisashi.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Takeshi walks into a stiff left hand from Hisashi.
 Takeshi is rocked! Takeshi tries to move into range but Hisashi moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Takeshi is still on wobbly legs! Can Hisashi finish him?
Hisashi has closed the distance and engaged Takeshi in a clinch.
Takeshi seems to have recovered his senses.
Takeshi is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hisashi can't fight it off and eventually Takeshi manages to take the fight to the floor. Hisashi looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Hisashi is wriggling around but Takeshi manages to pass to half guard.
 That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hisashi is looking to escape.
Hisashi is defending against the submission attempts here by Takeshi.
Hisashi wants to get back to his feet.
Takeshi is working for a kimura but Hisashi is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hisashi blocking the ground and pound attempt from Takeshi.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Takeshi controlling the action here. Hisashi is trying to stand up here but Takeshi is controlling him well. Ground and pound from Takeshi. Takeshi uses his free foot to push down on Hisashi's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hisashi.
Takeshi swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hisashi is now in Takeshi's guard. A big mistake from Takeshi there, giving up the dominant position!
Hisashi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Akahoshi Hisashi dominated that round. The cut man is working on Matsuda Takeshi's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Hisashi works Takeshi's body with a nice hook. Takeshi takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Hisashi sizes up Takeshi with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Hisashi scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Decent striking displayed by Hisashi there. Hisashi lands with a thumping leg kick.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Hisashi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Takeshi feints the counter takedown. The fighters circling - Hisashi throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Hisashi throws a big shot that misses. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Takeshi uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hisashi. Hisashi throws out a powerful jab. Hisashi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Takeshi can do to turn this around? Hisashi misses with a low kick. Takeshi changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Hisashi jabbing away but nothing is landing. Takeshi feints the counter takedown. Hisashi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Takeshi wants to counter with a clinch but Hisashi pushes him away. Takeshi walks into a stiff left hand from Hisashi. Hisashi connects with a nice looking jab.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Takeshi misses with a takedown attempt and Hisashi counters with a stiff right hand. Hisashi misses with a looping right. A big left from Hisashi misses. Hisashi rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Takeshi counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Hisashi! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Takeshi cracks Hisashi with an elbow. That is naaassty. Hisashi is trying to get back to his feet. Hisashi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Takeshi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Takeshi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hisashi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Takeshi tries to advance to mount but can't. Hisashi taking punishment in the form of punches.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Hisashi looks to move to half guard but instead Takeshi has passed into mount! Damn! Takeshi looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Hisashi is trying to reverse the position but instead Takeshi has taken his back - oops! Hisashi trying to control but not successfully.
Takeshi working for a choke but Hisashi reverses nicely into Takeshi 's guard. Our spies down at at Vancouver Island Fight Club inform us that Takeshi has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Takeshi keeping moving, preventing Hisashi from controlling successfully.

Akahoshi Hisashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hisashi smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. A decent looking cross lands there for Hisashi. Nice shot by Hisashi. Takeshi on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hisashi. Hisashi obviously looking to wear him down.

And Takeshi tries to counter it with a takedown but Hisashi pushes his down on his head and steps out. Takeshi ducks under a wild hook from Hisashi. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hisashi throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Takeshi's head. Takeshi fails with the takedown.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Takeshi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

The fighters circle momentarily. Hisashi darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Takeshi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hisashi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Takeshi with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hisashi to score with a decent uppercut. Some wild striking there from Hisashi.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Hisashi misses with a hook. Takeshi feints the counter takedown. Hisashi connects with a body shot that sends Takeshi's belly button to the back. Akahoshi Hisashi is winning the standup battle so far. Hisashi connects with a crisp jab. Hisashi throws out a loose jab but Takeshi uses good head movement to avoid it. A big right from Hisashi misses. This has been an exciting period of action! Hisashi loads up on a big right hand but Takeshi slips the punch.
Takeshi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Takeshi advances to half guard. Takeshi trying to control from half guard but Hisashi is working away. Takeshi is pressing down on Hisashi's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hisashi is holding on for now. Matsuda Takeshi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Hisashi wants to sweep but Takeshi has passed to side control! Hisashi wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

 That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Hisashi wants to get back to full guard. Hisashi slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Hisashi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Takeshi is one step ahead there. Hisashi trying to keep a closed guard but Takeshi is proving a slippery customer.
And that's the end of the fight! Akahoshi Hisashi showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hisashi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
