Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Neil Stephens (ranked 1148 p4p, 1535 weight class) and Nathanael McGuire (ranked 133 p4p, 167 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Neil Stephens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathanael McGuire! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stephens throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. McGuire looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. McGuire avoids the body shot from Stephens.
A countering left hand to the body from McGuire misses. A telegraphed right hand from McGuire misses the target. Stephens has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. The fighters circling - Stephens throws out the jab but it was never going to land. McGuire takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Stephens with a body punch. A glancing blow. McGuire throws a good cross that connects.
McGuire takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Stephens throws a shot from downtown. McGuire moves away and avoids it. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McGuire can do anything to dispel that myth. McGuire looks like he's trying to stand up.

McGuire moves into range and clinches up with Stephens. McGuire leaning against his opponent.
Stephens is trying to break the clinch but McGuire is controlling him. McGuire cracks Stephens with a nice body shot. Stephens tries to pull guard but McGuire holds him up against the cage and eventually Stephens drops back down to his feet.

McGuire stands up from guard. Let's bang! Stephens jabbing away but nothing is landing. McGuire throws the left hand but Stephens avoids the punch easily. McGuire misses with a lunging right hand
and Stephens connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Stephens takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Stephens jabbing away but nothing is landing. Stephens throws out a loose jab but McGuire uses good head movement to avoid it. Stephens misses with an uppercut. McGuire takes a body punch but keeps moving. McGuire throws a poor cross that misses
and Stephens counters with a three punch combo that has McGuire backing up. McGuire nods at Stephens to acknowledge the strikes. Stephens throws a combination that misses
and McGuire counters by moving into the clinch. Stephens can't break the clinch.
Stephens has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. McGuire avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Neil Stephens dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Stephens takes a knee to the side of the body. McGuire struggles to land a body shot inside as Stephens controls his hands.
McGuire crunches a lovely knee into Stephens's ribcage. Stephens has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by McGuire after a bit of a struggle. McGuire scores with a shot to the side of Stephens's head. Stephens takes a knee right on the jaw!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McGuire lands on the inside with an uppercut. McGuire working some nice short punches in the clinch.
 That's one minute gone in the round. McGuire lands a hook that snaps the head of Stephens backwards. Stephens misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Stephens looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Still in the clinch, McGuire scores with a nice short uppercut. McGuire connects with a nasty looking knee right to Stephens's face.

Stephens lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. McGuire fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stephens manages to avoid it. Stephens takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. McGuire misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stephens.

McGuire has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Stephens is on him like a limpet, forcing McGuire back against the cage.

McGuire unleashes a big counter combination but Stephens bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Stephens throws a shot from downtown. McGuire moves away and avoids it. McGuire misses with a hook.

McGuire tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stephens was well out of range. Poor timing from McGuire. Stephens is looking to counter punch. Stephens doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Stephens scores with a sloppy right hand. McGuire should have avoided that one. Neil Stephens is winning the standup battle so far. Stephens with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling McGuire to score with a decent uppercut. Nice defenses there by McGuire. McGuire slips under a jab from Stephens. McGuire steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Stephens. Stephens throws a sloppy body shot
and McGuire counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. A punch lands to the side of Stephens 's head but he takes it in his stride. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Stephens with a jab. McGuire throws a body shot but no joy. Stephens digs a good hook to McGuire's body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Nathanael McGuire showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. McGuire obliges. Both fighters are breathing heavily. McGuire digs a right hand underneath Stephens's ribcage. Stephens let out a lung full of air as it connected. McGuire has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Stephens seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if McGuire can turn it around. McGuire lands a good knee to the midsection. Stephens won't want to take too many of those.
McGuire breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McGuire cracks Stephens with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. McGuire has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Stephens to stand back up!
 Stephens is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McGuire takes a swing at Stephens's ribcage but misses. Oh Stephens is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fight moves into the clinch position. McGuire goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Stephens seems to have got his legs back now. McGuire utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. McGuire stalls.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. McGuire landing knees to the body.

McGuire works on Stephens's body with a couple of short punches. A nice right hand lands inside from McGuire. Stephens is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but McGuire is keeping busy. A right hook to the body lands for McGuire.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Stephens's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! McGuire unloads a knee to the mid-section. Stephens lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. McGuire is pressed up against the cage. Stephens has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McGuire down to the mat. McGuire avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Stephens staying out of range there.
McGuire drops Stephens with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Stephens looks back up at him and smiles so McGuire waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
McGuire cracks Stephens with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. McGuire has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Stephens to stand back up! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A shot to the body from Stephens misses and McGuire counters with a huge overhand right that connects right on the temple, sending him crumpling, face first to the floor! This one is all over! What a knockout!
