Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rio Rolla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Tempest!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rolla takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

It looks like Rio Rolla has been cut.
Tempest slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Rolla shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Rolla passes Tempest's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Tempest really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rolla. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rolla looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Tempest is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rolla is taking a breather. Tempest says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Tempest is looking to escape.
We've been hearing good reports from Rolla's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Rolla is looking to take a break and control but Tempest is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rolla frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Rolla is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tempest has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Rolla is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Tempest is forced to tap! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rio Rolla!
In his post fight interview, Rio Rolla started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
