Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Commie Kuusinen (ranked 2607 p4p, 2244 weight class) and Casimiro Nicoletta (ranked 277 p4p, 252 weight class). Nicoletta has chosen For Once In My Life as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Commie Kuusinen has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Commie Kuusinen seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Commie Kuusinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Casimiro Nicoletta!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuusinen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Kuusinen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nicoletta is refusing to be controlled, as Kuusinen sits in half guard.

Nicoletta felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Casimiro Nicoletta is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kuusinen closes the distance and clinches up with Nicoletta, looking for a takedown. Kuusinen pushes Nicoletta against the cage but Nicoletta circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kuusinen pivots, looking for a leg kick but Nicoletta is out of range and Kuusinen settles back down.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nicoletta is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kuusinen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kuusinen's back!

Kuusinen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nicoletta with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nicoletta is staying active underneath Kuusinen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kuusinen wants to pass to mount but Nicoletta is defending the position.

I was talking to Kuusinen's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Nicoletta bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kuusinen's guard.

Kuusinen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nicoletta to the ground. Kuusinen is now in Nicoletta's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kuusinen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nicoletta works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kuusinen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Nicoletta is pulling down on Kuusinen's head. It's preventing any offense from Kuusinen, at least for the moment.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Commie Kuusinen.
I think Kuusinen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
