Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cody Smith (ranked 4024 p4p, 4019 weight class) and Ishaan Wagner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ishaan Wagner!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in and drives through. Wagner sprawls well.
Wagner looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Smith throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Smith gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Wagner wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Smith keeps control of Wagner as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Smith keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Wagner's efforts to push away.
Wagner is looking to break free of the clinch but Smith has double underhooks.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Smith drags the fight down to the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wagner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wagner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Smith wants to sweep but no luck.

Wagner wanted to stand there but Smith had control of the position.
Wagner won't allow Smith to sweep him here.
Smith had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wagner defends it easily.
Smith is adopting a defensive guard.
Smith is looking for a triangle but Wagner pushes his legs off easily.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Smith wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Wagner throws a head kick but Smith moves out of range.
Crunch! Wagner slams his shin into Smith's torso.
Smith dives in and grabs Wagner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wagner pushes down on Smith's head and hops out.
Wagner fails in his attempt to clinch.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Wagner, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Wagner against the cage but Wagner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cody Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Wagner moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off.
Wagner sends Smith crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Wagner is motioning to the referee to let Smith up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Wagner tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Smith fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wagner feints the counter takedown.
Smith tries to clinch but Wagner moves out of range.
Wagner wants to counter with a clinch but Smith pushes him away.

Wagner uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smith.
Smith shoots in and drives through. Wagner sprawls well.
Wagner shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Wagner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wagner tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wagner to the ground. Wagner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Wagner fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Smith.
Wagner doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wagner moves away.
Wagner changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Wagner fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nice straight punches there by Wagner. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Wagner.
Cody Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheers as Wagner lands an impressive looking overhand right. Smith doesn't seem phased though.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
A thudding body kick lands there by Wagner!
Wagner is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
Wagner sends Smith crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Wagner is motioning to the referee to let Smith up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Smith is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith wants to stay close but Wagner steps back to make room for something. Smith seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Wagner and Smith drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ishaan Wagner!
