Emelianenko kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Three Days Grace - I Hate Everything About You. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wolodymyr Emelianenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Imueze!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko misses with an uppercut.
Imueze uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Emelianenko.
Imueze tries to clinch there but Emelianenko circles away.
Imueze avoids the body shot from Emelianenko.
Emelianenko throws a lazy uppercut

and Imueze counters with a crisp one two that drops Emelianenko! Imueze thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Emelianenko to his feet! Emelianenko is in big trouble!

Emelianenko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Imueze is trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Emelianenko in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Emelianenko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Imueze keeps working.
Emelianenko works to advance to full mount. Imueze defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Emelianenko has control of Imueze's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Imueze regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Emelianenko goes for an armbar but Imueze turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Imueze.

Imueze wants to get up but he can't break Emelianenko's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Emelianenko is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Imueze is controlling him.

Emelianenko keeping moving, preventing Imueze from controlling successfully.
Emelianenko wants to get back to his feet but Imueze is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Imueze must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Imueze stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Emelianenko feints and as Imueze raises his hands in defense, Emelianenko changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Emelianenko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Imueze swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Emelianenko is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Emelianenko has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Emelianenko wants to pass the guard but Imueze is keeping the position.

Emelianenko is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Emelianenko is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Emelianenko wants to pass the guard but Imueze is keeping the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Emelianenko throws the left hand but Imueze avoids the punch easily.
Emelianenko loads up on a big right hand but Imueze slips the punch.
Imueze tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Emelianenko paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Emelianenko missing with a left hand there. Imueze was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Emelianenko drops Imueze with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Imueze! Emelianenko dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wolodymyr Emelianenko!
Wolodymyr Emelianenko spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
