Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Davis Novak (ranked 2263 p4p, 2652 weight class) and Jake Benavidez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benavidez has chosen Nieves De Enero as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Davis Novak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Benavidez!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Novak. No joy for Benavidez on that attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Novak on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Benavidez shoots in for a takedown but Novak shows good takedown defense.
Davis Novak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Benavidez.
Benavidez fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Novak keeps the fight on the outside.
It looked like Novak wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Novak seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Benavidez shoots in for a takedown but Novak shows good takedown defense.
Novak throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Benavidez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Horrible takedown attempt by Benavidez or perhaps it was just good defense by Novak, which made it look bad.

Novak uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Benavidez.
Novak appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Benavidez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Novak counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Novak cracks Benavidez with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Benavidez looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Novak finish him?
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Novak moves into the clinch.
Benavidez is looking to break free of the clinch but Novak has double underhooks.
Benavidez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Novak just stands there and leans against the cage.
Novak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Novak keeps the fight on the outside.
Novak appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Novak circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Benavidez to the canvas! Benavidez doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Novak keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
