PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Xavi Yurchon (ranked 2675 p4p, 3373 weight class) and Angelo Canzanilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Yurchon might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to X-Men 97 Intro. Angelo Canzanilla is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xavi Yurchon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Angelo Canzanilla!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Yurchon enables Canzanilla to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Yurchon manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Canzanilla in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Canzanilla accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Canzanilla is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Canzanilla loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Canzanilla throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Yurchon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Yurchon has his foot on Canzanilla's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Canzanilla works his way back into a safe position though.

Yurchon definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Canzanilla looking to sit in guard and control but Yurchon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yurchon controlling from the top position.
Canzanilla wants to sweep here but Yurchon controlling him for the moment.
Canzanilla is looking to sweep but instead, Yurchon has passed into half guard.
Canzanilla tries to get to full guard but Yurchon has control of the leg.
Yurchon stops Canzanilla from getting back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Yurchon is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Canzanilla sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are battling for position here. Canzanilla manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yurchon wants to control from the top but Canzanilla keeps moving.
Canzanilla is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Canzanilla wants to hit a sweep here but Yurchon passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Canzanilla there!
Yurchon trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Canzanilla is desperately trying to improve his position but Yurchon has a good base and remains in mount.
Canzanilla regains half guard.
Canzanilla really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yurchon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Canzanilla is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Yurchon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Yurchon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Yurchon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Canzanilla does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

We've been informed that Canzanilla has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Canzanilla is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Yurchon has latched onto it... Big trouble! Yurchon pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Canzanilla is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Yurchon!
