Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Taisei Sakuraba (ranked 3384 p4p, 4384 weight class) and Matteo Ruffy (ranked 341 p4p, 394 weight class). Ruffy is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: DMX - X Gon' Give It To Ya. Matteo Ruffy has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Taisei Sakuraba! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matteo Ruffy! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Ben Hemmingworth.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruffy avoids a punch combination nicely.
A little jabbing left from Ruffy on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. A jab from Ruffy does it's job there. Sakuraba shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ruffy as he avoids it easily. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Sakuraba connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ruffy's hands. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruffy blocks a jab. Sakuraba looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Ruffy staying out of range there. Ruffy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sakuraba throws out the jab. Ruffy swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
 That's one minute gone in the round.
Sakuraba manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ruffy on his heels. He'll look to pass Ruffy's guard now, I'm sure. Sakuraba pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ruffy is keeping the position for now. Sakuraba throwing strikes but missing.
Sakuraba thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Ruffy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sakuraba. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ruffy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sakuraba is one step ahead there. Sakuraba advances position into side control!
 That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sakuraba tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sakuraba has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Ruffy is not content to let Sakuraba control the position. Ruffy managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Sakuraba.
Sakuraba thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Sakuraba tries for a kimura but Ruffy is defending well.
Sakuraba is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ruffy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
 That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sakuraba is trying to get an arm triangle but Ruffy is defending well. Ruffy being controlled for a moment.
Sakuraba thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sakuraba looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Taisei Sakuraba dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Sakuraba uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ruffy has time to react. Sakuraba misses with an uppercut. Sakuraba misses with a few strikes there.
Ruffy swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Ruffy staying out of range there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruffy loads up on a big right hand but Sakuraba slips the punch. Sakuraba throwing a counter right hand but Ruffy manages to avoid it. Sakuraba thows a body kick. Ruffy tries to catch it but that hurt him. Taisei Sakuraba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Sakuraba thuds his right hand into Ruffy's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Ruffy blocks a head kick by Sakuraba.
Ruffy looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Ruffy scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Sakuraba throws a jab when Ruffy was well out of range. Ruffy moves out of range of the leg kick from Sakuraba. Sakuraba misses with an uppercut
and Ruffy counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Sakuraba misses with a head kick.
Sakuraba tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ruffy swivels and escapes.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Sakuraba slips a straight right by Ruffy. An attempted straight right counter from Sakuraba misses the target. Sakuraba thows a left - swing and a miss! And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ruffy! But no joy. Jab, jab by Sakuraba - just one landing. Ruffy blocks a jab. Sakuraba looks for the body kick but Ruffy saw that one coming. Sakuraba looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. This has been an exciting period of action! Nice shot lands for Ruffy.
 Sakuraba is rocked!
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruffy takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Sakuraba throws a poor cross that misses
and Ruffy counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Oh Sakuraba is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Sakuraba dives in for a single leg takedown but Ruffy sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Ruffy looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Ruffy breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Ruffy drops Sakuraba with a naaaaasty hook - Sakuraba is in real trouble here! Ruffy dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matteo Ruffy! Matteo Ruffy looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'There's no gawd in the cage, just the dawg coming to get you!'.
