Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kareem Gallegos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathanial Huerta!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gallegos closes the distance and clinches.
Gallegos breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gallegos rushes Huerta and presses him up against the cage.
Gallegos breaks the clinch.
Gallegos lands with an overhand left.
Huerta is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Huerta walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Gallegos misses with an uppercut.
Gallegos tries a head kick but it misses.
Gallegos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Huerta swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kareem Gallegos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Huerta misses with a wild body shot.
Gallegos scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Huerta looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Huerta passes to side control.
Gallegos is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Huerta tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Huerta has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gallegos wants to get back to his feet but Huerta drags him back down.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Huerta is working to tighten his grip on Gallegos's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Gallegos has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Huerta is really squeezing tight and eventually Gallegos passes out! Huerta breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Nathanial Huerta!
