PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Buck Bolkvadze (ranked 1818 p4p, 1374 weight class) and Ike Goon (ranked 201 p4p, 156 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Buck Bolkvadze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ike Goon!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goon gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Bolkvadze jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Bolkvadze lands a nice hook to Goon's body. Goon takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Bolkvadze clinches up with Goon and pushes him back against the cage.

Bolkvadze ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bolkvadze no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Goon trying to control the position from guard on top but Bolkvadze is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bolkvadze seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Goon passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Goon goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Bolkvadze rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Goon's guard! Nice work there by Bolkvadze!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Goon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bolkvadze manages to get himself to full guard.

Bolkvadze wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Goon postures up.
Goon not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Bolkvadze preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Goon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bolkvadze is keeping the position for now.

Bolkvadze has his foot on Goon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Goon works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Goon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bolkvadze has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Goon has managed to get both his arms back between Bolkvadze's legs - danger averted.
Goon controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Goon trying to move into half guard but instead Bolkvadze has managed to sweep!

Goon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Bolkvadze decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Goon, up you get!
Goon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bolkvadze tries to close the distance and clinch but Goon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bolkvadze lands with a shot to the body.
Goon ducks under a wild hook from Bolkvadze.
Bolkvadze slips a jab from Goon.
Bolkvadze lands the left hand.
Bolkvadze lands a jab to Goon's midsection.
Goon throws a chopping leg kick but Bolkvadze manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Bolkvadze lands a head shot.
An inside leg kick lands from Bolkvadze.
Donk. Bolkvadze catches Goon right on the button with a cross.
Bolkvadze lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
An inside leg kick from Goon misses.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Goon lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bolkvadze has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bolkvadze and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bolkvadze feints a jab promting Goon to slip. Bolkvadze then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Goon slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Bolkvadze takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
A jab from Bolkvadze finds it's way through Goon's defenses.
Goon tries a low kick but Bolkvadze avoids it.
Bolkvadze checks a leg kick.
Bolkvadze takes a swing at Goon's ribcage but misses.
Goon with a nice calf kick.
A nice leg kick from Bolkvadze, right into the meat of the thigh.
Bolkvadze throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Bolkvadze throws a quick inside leg kick.
Buck Bolkvadze seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bolkvadze lands with a slapping head kick.
Bolkvadze misses with an attempted mid kick.
Bolkvadze cracks Goon with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Goon drops his hands momentarily and Bolkvadze takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Bolkvadze lands with a straight right. Goon didn't see that one coming.

Goon is rocked!
A nice leg kick lands there from Bolkvadze.
Goon is still on wobbly legs! Can Bolkvadze finish him?
Bolkvadze circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Goon tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Bolkvadze wins by KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Buck Bolkvadze!
Buck Bolkvadze thanked the fans post fight for their support.
Ike Goon was interviewed post fight and said 'Buy Bitcoin, don't be manipulated and seek God.'.
