Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bella Miele (ranked 2783 p4p, 3377 weight class) and Lorenzo Smashotti (ranked 278 p4p, 335 weight class). Bella Miele could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Lorenzo Smashotti's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lorenzo Smashotti!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miele takes the fight into the clinch.
Miele is trying to stall.
Miele breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Miele is trying to pull guard but Smashotti turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smashotti's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Miele tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Smashotti jumps guard but Miele stands there with Smashotti around his waist. Smashotti gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Smashotti breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Miele manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Smashotti on his heels. He'll look to pass Smashotti's guard now, I'm sure.

Smashotti is looking to stand up but Miele isn't so interested in that idea.

Miele distracts Smashotti with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Smashotti is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Smashotti is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Miele defends well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Smashotti tries to close the distance and clinch but Miele swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Miele looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Smashotti has Miele up against the cage in a clinch.
Miele is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Smashotti gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bella Miele. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Miele is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Smashotti to keep the fight standing.
Smashotti is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Smashotti's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Miele goes for a double leg but Smashotti avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Smashotti continues to drive forward.
Miele jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Smashotti walks away with a smile on his face. Miele gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Smashotti stalks Miele and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Miele's face. Miele staggers backwards, shaken.
Smashotti swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Miele dives in and grabs Smashotti's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smashotti pushes down on Miele's head and hops out.
Smashotti misses with a wild combination.
Miele half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Miele is defended easily by Smashotti.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A jab-cross combination lands for Smashotti and sends Miele crashing to the mat! Smashotti follows him down to the mat - Miele regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Miele slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Oh Miele is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smashotti has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Miele is proving hard to escape from.

Smashotti is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Smashotti gets to his feet - Miele follows without any prompting.
Miele seems to have got his legs back now.
Smashotti wants to clinch.
Smashotti feints with a jab and clips Miele right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Miele is sent crashing into the canvas and Smashotti leaps in for the kill! Miele tries to get to his feet but Smashotti is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Miele is in need of a savior and steps in!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lorenzo Smashotti!
After the fight, Lorenzo Smashotti was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
