Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Juanito De La Cruz (ranked 432 p4p, 755 weight class) and Wa Hoo (ranked 53 p4p, 76 weight class). Hoo is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond. Juanito De La Cruz is staring across the ring at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wa Hoo!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De La Cruz connects with a nice looking jab.

Hoo takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Hoo throws a low kick, looking for De La Cruz's leg but De La Cruz calmly moves out of range.
De La Cruz fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hoo on the side of the head.
The fighters circle momentarily. De La Cruz darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Hoo gets the takedown into side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hoo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, De La Cruz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hoo but great work by De La Cruz.

It looks like Hoo might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Hoo not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Wa Hoo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
De La Cruz is looking to control Hoo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can De La Cruz avoid being mounted?
Hoo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but De La Cruz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hoo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so De La Cruz is just riding it out for now. Hoo eventually gives up the hold.

Wa Hoo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hoo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
