PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Dam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Ogden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dam closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ogden did well to prevent Dam getting side control.
Ogden is trying to control but can't.
Ogden blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dam.
Ogden wants to control but Dam is keeping busy.
Dam missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Ogden is staying active underneath Dam, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Dam is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ogden is just riding it out for now. Dam eventually gives up the hold.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dam looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Ogden tries to keep at a distance but Dam has taken the fight into the clinch.

Dam wants a takedown but no success here.

Dam has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Ogden regains guard immediately.

Ogden is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Dam drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ogden looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ogden looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ogden!
Ogden content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Dam tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ogden wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Dam is working hard here to advance position.
Dam is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Ogden is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ogden in particular looking to stall.

Ogden not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Dan Dam will probably get the nod.

Ogden rushes Dam and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Dam throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Ogden blocks it with crossed arms.
Ogden blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Dam goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ogden prevents it.
Ogden tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Dam misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Ogden.
Dam misses with a knee strike.

Dam wants the takedown. Ogden is fighting it off but Dam persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Ogden's guard against the cage.

Ogden is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Dam is trying to escape and Ogden transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Dam is forced to tap! Nice work there by Ogden! Very nice indeed!
