Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joop Van Der Arts (ranked 2947 p4p, 23993 weight class) and Bruce Wagner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joop Van Der Arts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruce Wagner!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Der Arts lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Wagner throws an overhand right that lands on Van Der Arts's shoulder, as Van Der Arts tries to avoid the shot.

Van Der Arts dives in and scores a takedown into Wagner's guard.
Wagner is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Van Der Arts trying to control but Wagner is working from the bottom.

Van Der Arts stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Van Der Arts just misses with a punch to the body.
Wagner jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Van Der Arts looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Wagner!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wagner is not content to let Van Der Arts control the position.

Van Der Arts tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Van Der Arts has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Van Der Arts wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wagner keeps working.

Wagner wants to get back to his feet but Van Der Arts drags him back down.

Van Der Arts tries for a kimura but Wagner is defending well.
Wagner prevents Van Der Arts from moving into mount.
Wagner is trying to buck Van Der Arts off.
Van Der Arts tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
A lull in the action here as Van Der Arts stalls from top position.
Wagner is not content to let Van Der Arts control the position.

Van Der Arts stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Van Der Arts jabs Wagner to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Wagner dodges the punch combination from Van Der Arts.

Van Der Arts drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Van Der Arts in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Van Der Arts trying to control but Wagner is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Der Arts won't allow Wagner to get back to his feet.
Wagner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Van Der Arts. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Van Der Arts thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Van Der Arts stops Wagner from standing up.
Wagner looks winded!

Van Der Arts gets to his feet - Wagner follows without any prompting.
Wagner misses the jab.
Wagner misses with a hook.
Good exchange - Van Der Arts coming out on top.
Bruce Wagner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Van Der Arts gets a double leg takedown into Wagner's guard.
Wagner keeping moving, preventing Van Der Arts from controlling successfully.
Wagner is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

We've been informed that Wagner has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Van Der Arts is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wagner is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Van Der Arts is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wagner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Van Der Arts is controlling him.

Van Der Arts drops back looking for a leg! Wagner is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wagner manages to kick Van Der Arts off! Van Der Arts jumps back into Wagner's guard.

Van Der Arts won't allow Wagner to get back to his feet.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Joop Van Der Arts dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Van Der Arts misses with a jab to the body
letting Wagner counter with a right hand.

Van Der Arts closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wagner quickly recovers to half guard.
Van Der Arts wants to take a breather but Wagner is having none of it.
Joop Van Der Arts overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Van Der Arts tries to pass to full mount but Wagner defends it.
Wagner is looking to escape.

Van Der Arts is working for a kimura but Wagner is defending it quite comfortably.
Van Der Arts is looking to take a break and control but Wagner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Van Der Arts is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wagner defends it well.

Van Der Arts in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Wagner tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Van Der Arts!
