The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Iceman throws a series of punches but Armando avoids them all with ease. Armando stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Armando wants it to stay on the feet. Iceman has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Armando closes the distance and pushes Iceman back into the ropes. Armando is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
A hook to the body from Armando.
Iceman pulls guard effortlessly. Armando must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Armando trying to stand up but can't free himself from Iceman's guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Iceman is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Armando rolls with it to try and escape but Iceman cranks on the arm and Armando is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dennis Iceman!
