This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 27 wins and 25 losses; Bráulio Etxeberria! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 61 wins and 37 losses; Gul Dukat! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Etxeberria stuffs the takedown. Dukat tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Etxeberria defends well and Dukat ends up having to push Etxeberria into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Horrible takedown attempt by Etxeberria or perhaps it was just good defense by Dukat, which made it look bad. Etxeberria fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dukat avoids it really well and circles away. Dukat is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Dukat shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Dukat was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Dukat with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Etxeberria is looking to get to half guard. Etxeberria tries to lock up and control but Dukat gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Etxeberria is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Dukat is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Etxeberria is trying to reverse the position but instead Dukat has taken his back - oops! Score +3 for taking back: Etxeberria (0) vs (9) Dukat The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. What can Etxeberria do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Etxeberria trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Dukat has good solid back control here. Etxeberria is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at HELLCADEMY, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Dukat is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
 That's five minutes gone in the round. Etxeberria trying to survive by controlling the hands. Dukat slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
I really don't envy Etxeberria right now.

Dukat has got his arm under Etxeberria's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Etxeberria has spun round into Dukat's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

 That's eight minutes gone in the round. Etxeberria's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Etxeberria tries to free his leg and advance position but Dukat is retaining full guard. Dukat seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Etxeberria is stalling in the full guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Dukat holds on and takes a little breather. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Etxeberria slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Dukat keeping moving, preventing Etxeberria from controlling successfully. Etxeberria looking to pass the guard. Etxeberria controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Etxeberria is fighting to break Dukat's control of his arms but Dukat is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Etxeberria is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Dukat keeping moving, preventing Etxeberria from controlling successfully. Dukat is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top.  That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Etxeberria wants to control but Dukat is keeping busy and won't allow it. Etxeberria keeping hold of Dukat's head, controlling as best he can. Etxeberria is looking to control Dukat's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Etxeberria avoid being mounted? Dukat wants to pass the guard but Etxeberria is defending well.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Dukat is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Dukat prevents Etxeberria from improving his position. Etxeberria manages to get to full guard.
Dukat seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Etxeberria pulls Dukat in close to his closed guard and prevents Dukat from doing any damage or advancing position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that's the end of the fight! Dukat wins on points by 11 to 2. Gul Dukat decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little. |
