Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mick Van Diemen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tommy McCoy!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCoy tries to clinch
and Van Diemen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
McCoy tries to clinch but fails miserably
letting Van Diemen counter with a right hand.
McCoy wants to clinch but Van Diemen slips to the side
and Van Diemen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Van Diemen circles away from the clinch attempt
and Van Diemen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
McCoy closes the distance but Van Diemen moves to the side
and McCoy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McCoy darts in trying to clinch
and Van Diemen makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
McCoy tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Van Diemen counters with a straight right hand.
McCoy is rocked!
McCoy switches off momentarily and Van Diemen cracks him with a monster right hand! McCoy topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Van Diemen dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Van Diemen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mick Van Diemen!
After winning the bout, Mick Van Diemen thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
