Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Eklund (ranked 817 p4p, 445 weight class) and Simon Soap (ranked 113 p4p, 65 weight class). Soap has chosen Clean Up - Barney The Purple Dinosaur as his entrance music. Simon Soap acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugo Eklund!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Simon Soap!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eklund throws a body punch but Soap moves out of range.
We've been hearing reports that Eklund has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Eklund looks to throw the jab but Soap is out of range.
Eklund rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Soap moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Soap steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Eklund takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Soap is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Eklund.

Eklund is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Soap is aware though and is defending well.

Soap got a little sloppy there for a moment and Eklund has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Soap has managed to get both his arms back between Eklund's legs - danger averted.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Eklund isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Soap stacks Eklund on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Soap!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Soap has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Soap connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Eklund's hands.

Eklund dives in and grabs Soap's left leg, looking for a takedown. Soap pushes down on Eklund's head and hops out.

Soap throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Soap throws a lazy right hand but Eklund sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Eklund throws a front kick aimed at Soap's knee but Soap avoids it well.

Soap throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Soap looks for the body kick but Eklund saw that one coming.
Eklund swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Eklund throws a right hand that Soap ducks under and follows up with a left that Soap also avoids with ease.
Eklund misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A low kick lands for Soap.

and Soap counters with a thumping low kick.
No luck for Eklund with that takedown attempt.
Soap lands with a nice body kick.

Soap uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Eklund.
A little jabbing left from Soap on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Eklund sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Eklund jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Soap walks away with a smile on his face. Eklund gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Soap moves out of range of the body kick from Eklund.
Eklund shoots for a double leg takedown but Soap sprawls well. He's pushed Eklund's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Eklund buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Soap moves into the clinch.
Soap lands a nice elbow.
It looks like Hugo Eklund has been cut.
Soap's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Eklund is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Soap lands an elbow that stopped Eklund in his tracks for a moment.
Soap throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Eklunds head.
Soap digs a right hand underneath Eklund's ribcage. Eklund let out a lung full of air as it connected.
A nice right hand lands inside from Soap.
Soap is leaning against Eklund and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Soap pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Eklund blocks a body shot from Soap.

Simon Soap showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters circle momentarily. Soap darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Oh Eklund is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Soap closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Eklund! Soap dives in looking to finish! Eklund is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
