Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tomo Skoko (ranked 3033 p4p, 3402 weight class) and Alvaro Gillespie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Tomo Skoko has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tomo Skoko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alvaro Gillespie!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skoko throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Gillespie slips a jab from Skoko.
Gillespie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Skoko counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Skoko throws a poor cross that misses

and Gillespie counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Skoko controls Gillespie momentarily but Gillespie frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Skoko wants to sweep here but Gillespie controlling him for the moment.
Gillespie tries to free his leg and advance position but Skoko is retaining full guard.
Gillespie is pushing down on Skoko's leg trying to pass to half guard. Skoko is fighting to maintain full guard but Gillespie has managed to sneak the leg through.

Gillespie takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Skoko wants to improve his position but Gillespie is controlling well.

Gillespie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Skoko as he jumps to the side.
Skoko lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Gillespie takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Gillespie changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Gillespie misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tomo Skoko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Gillespie shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Skoko manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gillespie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gillespie is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Gillespie gets to his feet - Skoko follows without any prompting.
Gillespie darts in looking for a takedown but Skoko gets double underhooks and turns Gillespie into the cage.
Tomo Skoko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alvaro Gillespie.
Skoko lands a lovely overhand right.
Skoko connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Skoko bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Skoko swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

A close round but Alvaro Gillespie will probably get the nod.
That's time! Skoko's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Gillespie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Skoko's waist but Skoko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gillespie off to one side.
Skoko was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Alvaro Gillespie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Skoko connects with a body shot.
Skoko throws a hook to the side of Gillespie's head but Gillespie sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Skoko keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Gillespie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Gillespie slips a jab from Skoko.
A lazy left from Skoko finds it's target.
Skoko throws a lazy right hand but Gillespie sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gillespie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Skoko.

Gillespie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Skoko knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gillespie on the ground.

Gillespie is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Skoko to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Skoko shrugs it off.

Skoko is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Gillespie gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Skoko connects with a right hand. Gillespie shakes it off.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Gillespie has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Skoko looks to score with a jab to the body but Gillespie is just out of range.

Gillespie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Skoko sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gillespie somewhat.

Alvaro Gillespie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Skoko slaps away a takedown attempt from Gillespie, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Gillespie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Skoko.

Skoko throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gillespie's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Skoko connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gillespie scrambles back to his feet.
Skoko throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Gillespie shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Skoko is trying to defend but Gillespie finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Gillespie winds up and cracks Skoko with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Skoko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gillespie is working away from the top position though.
Gillespie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Skoko's head.

Gillespie is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Gillespie has hold of Skoko's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Skoko manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Gillespie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Skoko knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Skoko defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Gillespie's arms.

Gillespie has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Skoko is in real trouble here. Gillespie gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Skoko is tapping out! Gillespie wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Alvaro Gillespie!
A very excited looking Alvaro Gillespie rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
